| Taizé
In complete contrast to Ressurection, Taizé is a time
to be still and have a really peaceful, reflective period
with God.
The service is held in candlelight at St. Gregory's
church. Songs are sung and chanted from books provided. Yes
admittedly some are in Latin and French or German, but the
books (and lead vocalists) make it very straightforward.
The chants are quite beautiful and melodius in their simplicity,
and really concentrate the heart and mind on praise to God.
Silence is a pivitol part of the devotion, in our services
this is usually about 10 minutes. In the quiet we have time
for considering a passage provided, to pray, to watch the
light inside and the light playing in through the windows,
and through it draw nearer to our Lord to find what he is
guiding us to or telling us.
For my own part, when asked by someone about what happens
at Taizé I replied in part that it gives me a tremendous
gift of our Lord's Peace for the days ahead — and we
can all do with some of that!
